TNO Built Environment and Geosciences is offering new first- and higher-degree graduates a unique training programme. For talented scientists this is an opportunity to broaden your career and embark on a personal development path. TNO Built Environment and Geosciences consists of seven business units, namely: Environment, Health & Safety, Soil and Groundwater, Geo-energy and Geo- information, Constructive Safety, Construction and Installations, Innovation and Environment, and Mobility and Logistics. Together we work on innovations for and with government and businesses. The focus of these innovations is the sustainable organisation, use and management of the built environment, the infrastructure and the subsurface. This is a two-year trainee programme based at the TNO locations in Delft and Utrecht. It consists of three main elements (see 'Your tasks').

Your Tasks

You will pursue on-the-job-training by rotating through applied scientific research projects within at least two business units. You will be offered courses to develop your competences. These will include professional and commercial behaviour, communication, project-based working and creativity. Lastly, you will follow courses to develop your professional knowledge. These will be tailored to suit your own individual needs and current activities.

Your Qualities

You are a new first- or higher-degree graduate in one of the following disciplines: business management, policy and management, architecture, civil engineering, electrical engineering, economic sciences, geosciences, industrial design, aerospace engineering, innovation management, maritime engineering, environmental technology, chemical technology, social sciences, technical business management, computer science, technical material sciences, technical physics, technical mathematics or mechanical engineering. You have a strong ambition to develop both the full scope of your personality and broadly in terms of research.

Your Balance

Everyone has his or her own notion of what pleasurable work is. TNO wants to help you find your professional and personal balance. You want to work on your career and have an enjoyable social life at the same time.
This is why we offer, for instance, à-la-carte terms and conditions of employment that enable you to swap various employment conditions on an annual basis. Flexible working times and various leave schemes also give you plenty of choice to create the package that best suits your situation. Of course, your pay is also good and the secondary conditions are excellent.

TNO really is the innovation and knowledge organisation par excellence. In other words, we attach a great deal of value to your personal and professional development. There are many opportunities for you to push on with your own development: conferences, education, workshops, coaching, intervision, mentoring and job switching. You have a big say in the speed and direction of your own development.
